Thanks to "Dave From Denver" for the link!

This is really just a promo for his latest "Tacfit Barbarian" product, but it works pretty well as "stand alone" instruction, if that's all you want. I've seen many far less generous "give away promotions" - providing plenty of valuable free info is one thing Scott excels in.
Sonnon favors the "hollowing" principle of abdominal bracing (as opposed to Pavel/RKC style power breathing idea of pushing out the abdominal wall "as if bracing for a punch"), and all these exercise protocols emphasize implementing this "hollow". Is he right? Well, at least he has a thorough rationale for his choice (which he has explained at length elsewhere) and devotees of Pilates and Hatha Yoga would probably feel more comfortable with this approach.

Thanks, Jim, for the "vocabulary" - I knew would you have the "words." Taking the vocabulary further - if you look at Sonnon's boxing pose you will see a "C" back. On Youtube "jk-d sanchin" and "kris wilder sanchin" Big men, wide hips, bellies not "hollow" in the cosmetic sense but I'm sure braced that way. Shoulders round and down, chest hollow, low back as flat into the "C" as possible. My taiji, xingyi instructor had that same posture.
I'm have pretty severe anterior pelvic tilt after living in a cubicle for 30 years. Trying to flatten the low back with this form. [PS, APT-wise any words of wisdom about your May, 2010 article "Training: In a slump" [crossed-syndrome], can't seem to decode it.]
Forgot this. Hate to come across as needy and demanding just because I am. "Love him or hate him, you gotta admit: the guy is good at whatever the hell it is he thinks he does!" Just about projectiled my Coors on that. If you stole that, you have great taste - if it's original, you're a genius. Sonnon's tapes are good, his writing not so much.
After 30 years of reading bad technical writing, his "see this power point I made up, it's The Meaning of Life", hilarious. It's like the story of the investigative reporter who goes to see the High Holy Man whose supposed to levitate. Sits all night in the room with the acolytes watching the HHM on his meditation cushion. Nada, zilch. Comes morning, the acolytes excitedly turn to him, Did you see him levitate? No. Well, you have to be initiated. Maybe after I receive the CST initiation, I will understand his writings. If I want abstruse, I'll go read Ken Wilber, seems pretty turgid to me but everybody says he's a genius, so it must be me.
Hah, glad you liked it - I've been using that for years, have forgotten where it came from - maybe Robert Christgau?
I've been thinking a lot about "upper crossed syndrome" and trying to formulate a philosophy about it. For me it all seems to be about thoracic "slump" - if I work on brining the middle of the thoracic spine "forward", that is what gains me the "neutral spine" so beloved of functional fitness guys like Gray Cook. I will try to find some more examples and posts to clear this up.
You see most people don't know what's right and what's wrong in the world of abdominal exercise and they tend to believe in whatever they are told. There are some deadly body building myths most people believe in which are completely not true.
